UNITS
ARBORETUM DE
VILLARDEBELLE
Le Pech Unit
Above the village of Villardebelle, Le Pech is a small Unit with calcarous rocks, on a south-
facing slope. Natural vegetation : Buxus sempervirens, Quercus sp., Fraxinus
excelsior. Here are the oldest conifers planted in the Arboretum. In the middle of the
photo : Cedrus deodara (its leader is broken each year by the wind!); left to it
: two Cupressus glabra; right to it : two Pseudotsuga menziesii. All
new planted seedlings must be protected against the main hazard : sheep.
La Galine Unit
This Unit is the second one in the Arboretum. It is on a South facing slope. Rock is
limestone. The field is to be seen above the wall. In the field, there are young trees and
barrels to collect water.
La Pasquiero Unit
This Unit is the fourth one in the Arboretum. It extends - as La Pasquiero Unit - on both slopes of the valley, about half way to the summit. Rock is limestone. Black plastic are protecting the seedlings against sun, wind and herbivors.
